Since LED downlights do not occupy indoor space, LED downlights are installed indoors. What is an LED downlight?
Regarding this question, it was mentioned in my last blog “What is a recessed downlight“. Simply put, an LED downlight is a lighting fixture that is embedded in the ceiling and emits light. It belongs to a fixed-direction lighting fixture, only its opposite side can receive light. The beam angle belongs to the condensed light, the light is concentrated, and the contrast between light and dark is strong. The illuminated object is more prominent, and the quiet environment is more set off.
Advantages of LED downlights
Compared with traditional downlights, it has the following advantages: energy saving, low carbon, long life, good color rendering, and fast response speed. People are more willing to use it to create warm and soft homes and leisure scenes, relieve fatigue, and relax the body and mind.
Beautiful and lightweight design
The design of the LED downlight is more beautiful and lighter. Because it is generally embedded in the ceiling, it can maintain the overall unity and perfection of the architectural decoration during installation, without destroying the setting of the lamp, and the light source is hidden inside the architectural decoration, and the light source is not exposed. , No glare, the human visual effect is soft and uniform.
Environmentally friendly and durable
Almost all LED downlights on the market will have the following characteristics:
1. Energy saving: the same brightness, power consumption is only 1/2 of ordinary energy-saving lamps. Even if you turn on the lights all night to work, don’t worry too much about your electricity bill.
2. Environmental protection: LED downlight does not contain harmful substances such as mercury, it is not fragile and can generally be recycled again, it does not pollute the environment, and its power-saving property also appropriately reduces carbon emissions.
3. Economical: The reduced electricity expenses due to electricity savings can be used for other parts of the household; the recoverable lighting reduces the cost.
4. Low-carbon: Because saving electricity is equivalent to reducing carbon emissions.
5. Longevity type: LED lighting lamp has a lifespan of 100,000 hours. According to the calculation of six hours of use per day, one LED lamp can be used for 40 years.
Install LED downlight
Step 1: The size of the ceiling opening is the same as the selected LED downlight, no more and no less.
Step 2: Connect the AC220V power supply, that is, connect the wires in the reserved ceiling and the power cord in the downlight.
Step 3: Put the LED downlight into the ceiling, make the spring vertical, and then put it into the ceiling hole.
Precautions for the installation:
1. Please read the instructions carefully before installing the product; make sure that the power has been cut off before installing the product indoors; for outdoor installations, you must be a licensed professional electrician.
2. Check the integrity of the product when taking it out of the box to avoid installation errors.
3. The distance between the product and flammable materials should be at least 0.2m, and the ceiling to be installed should have a gap of 2 cm. The lighting part of the downlight is exposed outside the ceiling. Pay attention to the low-voltage and high-voltage electrical wiring separately.
4. The connection on the downlight can be passed through the drilled hole and the back connection can be fixed with a wire clamp, to ensure a firm fixation.
5. Make sure that the power cord of the downlight has enough length. When installing the downlight cable, avoid excessive tension and don’t make the cable knotted. The output wiring should be distinguished, not be confused with other wires.
6. After installation, connect the low-voltage plug of the downlight with the low-voltage plug of the switching power supply.
7. Non-professionals are not allowed to disassemble or repair. If you encounter a situation that requires maintenance, please contact a professional in time.
Precautions for safe use :
1. The product uses standard working voltage, please do not exceed the working voltage range.
2. It is necessary to confirm whether the product is damaged during transportation before use. If it is damaged, it cannot be installed and used.
3. Do not try to repair it yourself, only contact professionals to repair it.
4. If the product is equipped with small parts, please keep it away from your children, and don’t let them touch live equipment.
5. Do not look directly at the LED lighting for a long time, and do not use the reflected LED light to illuminate the eyes of others.
6. Do not let the downlight be exposed to water for a long time.
7. After the expiration date, it is necessary to check the usage, re-maintenance, and check, or scrap it.
Precautions for cleaning:
1. Before cleaning the downlight, be sure to turn off the power.
2. Please use a dry or relatively dry cloth for cleaning.
3. Do not use chemical or corrosive things to clean.
